Himshikhar Eco Trek: Volunteer in Nepal

About the project
Project Goals
The major goal of the Volunteer Trekking Project is to enable the volunteers to explore Nepal on foot whilst contributing their skills to serve the marginalized communities. Volunteers can choose from a wide range of projects that align with their interests and goals. This project also aims to provide a beautiful experience in both volunteering and exploring the beauty of Nepal's culture and nature. The trek to the Himalayas offers a chance to observe local customs and enjoy the stunning landscapes, all while giving back to the community.
The trekking portion of the project is a minimum of 15 days, with the option for volunteers to extend their stay according to personal preferences. The itinerary is designed to offer a balance of work and exploration, allowing volunteers to engage in community development activities while also trekking to the sacred Panch Pokhari lakes.
Day 01: Drive to Himshikhar Eco Foundation (NGO Base)
Day 02-06: Work with the community on various development projects
Day 07: Drive to Bhotang Village (1800 meters)
Day 08: Trek to Nasimpati (Camp)
Day 09: Trek to Panch Pokhari Lakes (4100 meters)
Day 10: Trek down to Bhotang Village
Day 11: Drive back to Himshikhar Eco Foundation (NGO Base)
Day 12-15: Continue work with the community and engage in village excursions and sightseeing to nearby areas
Volunteers Requirements
This project is open to all volunteers who are ready to contribute their time and skills. There are no specific age requirements, making it accessible to people of all ages. Volunteers must have a moderate fitness level as the trek involves ascending to an altitude of 4100 meters, with various hiking days. While the trek is challenging, it is manageable for anyone with a willingness to prepare physically and mentally.
Project details
This volunteer trekking project is designed to be non-commercial and focused on authentic community interaction and eco-tourism. The project will take place in the unexplored and pristine regions of the Sindhupalchowk District in Nepal, offering volunteers a unique opportunity to visit areas that have not been affected by mass tourism.
